The problem
For EU merchants selling to businesses in other EU countries.
Removing VAT for a business in another EU country is allowed only when the seller can prove the buyer was registered for VAT at the time of the sale. Get it wrong and the seller owes the VAT itself, out of pocket, plus interest. The traps are not obvious: a valid number from your own country does not remove VAT; "the register is down" is not a yes; goods that never left your country keep their VAT; a Greek number starts EL, not GR; a Northern Ireland (XI) number covers goods only. Tollgate is built around exactly those.

How am I billed?
$7.99/month through Shopify's own app billing, on your normal Shopify bill. No card is taken here and there is no share of your sales.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Shopify tells the app the moment you uninstall, and the app erases what it kept for your store. Customer data requests from Shopify are answered the same way. The full detail is on the app's own privacy page.
