For US shops selling tax-free to resellers, schools, churches, farms and government. Affidavit keeps each buyer's certificate: state, form, number, dates, where the copy is kept and who checked it. It will not mark a customer tax-exempt without a complete, checked, current certificate. It lists lapsed and expiring certificates, and untaxed orders with no certificate for the ship-to state, with the tax not charged. Covered orders make an audit file saved as a CSV. Not tax advice.

US merchants selling wholesale or to exempt organisations. $8 a month. The comparable apps charge $6.75 (weak reviews), $8 and $19, $14.99 and $29, and $19 (ExemptGuard, checked 2026-10-20). $8 sits at the low end with the one thing none of them leads with: the refusal to tag without a whole certificate, and the order-by-order exposure.
What it does
Inside Affidavit
Who buys tax-free and which states they are covered in. The "Mark tax-exempt" button is the door: it refuses, naming what is missing, if no certificate has been received or none is whole (a number, a copy on file, someone who read it, issued on or before today, not expired). Customers marked exempt whose certificate has lapsed are listed at the top with an Untag button.
Each one received, with the expiry worked out (its own date, or the state's years from issue, or none) and a list of what needs doing: not valid, or expiring within the warning days (30 by default).
Untaxed orders in the last twelve months. Any with no certificate for its ship-to state on the day of the order is listed with the tax not charged at that state's rate. The covered ones make the audit file, saved as a CSV.
Each state's rule, set by the merchant: years a blanket certificate lasts there (0 = no set expiry) and the rate. The sample's values are sample settings; check each state's own rule. Backup, restore, sample, erase.

How am I billed?
$8 a month through Shopify's own app billing, on your normal Shopify bill. No card is taken here and there is no share of your sales.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Shopify tells the app the moment you uninstall, and the app erases what it kept for your store. Customer data requests from Shopify are answered the same way. The full detail is on the app's own privacy page.
