For shopify merchantsA POS time clock with timesheets, overtime and commission worked out for you.
Staff clock in, take breaks and clock out on your Shopify POS. Managers see the week's timesheets with anything that cannot be paid as it stands marked, such as a forgotten clock-out. The payroll page shows regular, overtime and double-time hours under federal or California rules, wages, and commission on net sales, tiered if wanted. A return comes off whoever made the original sale. Missed meal breaks are flagged. Download a CSV for payroll. Punchcard does not run payroll or give legal advice.
On its way to the Shopify App Store. Write to us and we will set your store up first - it is billed through your Shopify bill, like any app.

The problem
A Shopify POS time clock for the small shop: clock in at the till, and get timesheets, overtime and commission that are worked out correctly — including the forgotten clock-out and the return of last week's sale.
Shops with hourly retail staff on Shopify POS. The incumbent (Easyteam, 5.0 stars, 327 reviews) is broad and good, and costs $30 a month minimum ($5 a staff member), with payroll a $45 add-on. Its listing does not say how overtime is worked out or what happens to a commission when the sale comes back. A four-person shop wants the clock, the hours and the commission right, for less.
What it does
Inside Punchcard
A shift still open after the longest believable shift (14 hours from clock-in, changeable) is held OUT of the totals and named until someone puts the real time in. So is a shift whose clock-out is before its clock-in, or one longer than the limit.
Federal: over 40 hours in the workweek at 1.5x. California: over 8 in a day at 1.5x, over 12 at 2x; the seventh day in a row in the workweek at 1.5x for 8 hours and 2x after; then over 40 *regular* hours a week at 1.5x, without paying daily overtime twice. A shift counts on the day it starts.
With California on, a shift over 5 hours with no 30-minute unpaid break is flagged — the law owes an hour's premium pay — and nothing is deducted for a break never taken.
(say 3% to $3,000, then 5%). A return comes off whoever made the ORIGINAL sale, even from an earlier period. If returns outweigh sales, commission is zero and the shortfall is carried to the next period's commission — never taken from wages.
