For shopify merchantsGives a share of each sale to a charity, with the product page, refunds and statement all agreeing.
Set a campaign: a charity, a percentage or fixed amount per order, dates, an optional limit, and whether customers may round up. Causeway works out each order's pledge (gift cards left out, discounts taken off first), takes it back on a refund, and stops at the limit. The product page sentence is written from the rule, so it always matches what is given. A monthly statement shows what is owed to the charity and what has been paid. Causeway does not collect donations; you pay the charity.

The problem
Give a share of each Shopify sale to a charity — and have the sentence on the product page, the refunds, the limit and the monthly statement all agree, because they are all worked out from the same rule.
Merchants running cause campaigns. The incumbent (ShoppingGives, 4.3 stars, 73 reviews) costs $29 a month plus 0.5% of sales, with choosing your own charity reportedly an add-on; reviewers call it "pay-to-play" for small brands. Its listing does not say what happens to a donation when the order is refunded.
What it does
Inside Causeway
It does not collect donations or pay charities. The shop pays the charity; recording the payment needs the charity's receipt or payment reference, and cannot be more than is owed.
"5% of the purchase price of every order (not counting gift cards, shipping or tax) goes to … from … to …, up to …" — so it cannot say something the arithmetic does not do. It is what the BBB Wise Giving Alliance standard asks a cause campaign to disclose. When the limit is reached or the campaign ends, the sentence changes that moment.
A customer's round-up is their own money held for the charity, so it goes back only on a full refund.
the money pledges when the card is spent, not twice.
pledges less refunds already taken back, at that order's date.
Once orders have been placed on a campaign, its share, limit and start are locked; to change them it is ended today and a new one starts, and every past order keeps the rule it was made under.
